Publication Ethics

WASILA: Journal of Islamic Studies and Civilization, published by Yayasan Media Literasi Mazawa Sriwijaya, is committed to maintaining academic integrity and high standards of publication ethics. Ethical principles apply to authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher throughout the publication process.

Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher supports the editorial team in maintaining the integrity, independence, transparency, and sustainability of the journal. Editorial decisions must be based on academic quality and must not be influenced by commercial, financial, personal, or institutional interests. The publisher cooperates with relevant parties in addressing allegations of plagiarism, research misconduct, authorship disputes, and other ethical violations.

Editor Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for managing the editorial process and making fair, objective, and independent decisions based on the originality, quality, relevance, methodology, and academic contribution of manuscripts. Editors must maintain confidentiality, disclose conflicts of interest, ensure an appropriate peer-review process, and provide a fair mechanism for appeals and complaints.

Editors must not require unnecessary citations to WASILA: Journal of Islamic Studies and Civilization, their own publications, or other sources for the purpose of manipulating citation metrics.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, constructively, and within the agreed timeframe. Reviewers should assess manuscripts based on their academic quality, methodology, originality, clarity, and contribution to the field of Islamic studies and civilization.

Reviewers must disclose any conflict of interest, maintain confidentiality, and should not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage. Reviewers should also inform the editor of substantial similarities, plagiarism, or potential duplicate publication.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their manuscripts. Authors must report their research honestly, provide appropriate citations, and avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and simultaneous submission to multiple journals.

Authorship must be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research. Authors must disclose relevant funding and conflicts of interest and acknowledge all significant sources of support.

Research involving human participants, communities, institutions, or other research subjects must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional requirements.

Plagiarism and Research Misconduct

All submitted manuscripts are subject to plagiarism and similarity screening. Plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, manipulation, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct are unacceptable and may result in rejection, correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action.

Corrections and Retractions

Authors must promptly notify the editor if they discover significant errors in their published work. WASILA: Journal of Islamic Studies and Civilization may publish corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
